Combines Cutter Bars and Air Reels

We are Crary people here. We use both the Crary Gold'n Cut and the Finger Air Reel. We love them both. The GNC is nice because it allows us to go a littel quicker down the field. We use to use the Tiger Jaw but it wouldn't feed very well. The GNC has enough room plus you get the double cut. Also the spring loaded hold down allows for easy quick servicing. Just turn the bolt and that is it.

I run an inch and a half knife {quick-cut} style knife on my NH 30ft. header with an AWS air reel. I have personnally cut 50 bu. beans at 8.2 mph and was snipping them off right on the ground. I also have another header with a SCH cutting system and a Crary Air Reel. The 1.5 inch knife cuts alot better than the 3.0 inch system but needs to have the holddowns shimmed periodically. I designed a precision adjuster plate that bolts onto the holddown and enables one to shim an entire 30 ft. knife to 1 thousands tollerance in 20 minutes. I find a 3 inch cutting knife is the weak link in getting absolute capacity out of your combine. The AWS air reel is very simple to install and does an excellent job of saving soybeans and improving the feeding of any combine. This maker can mount the blower on the header or if it is a JD. or Case combine, direct off the main combine on the right side of the cab.

We use Crary air reels on our 20ft head and 30ft head. Would not combine soybeans without them. They (air- reels) feed the soybeans so even into the combine that you can run faster and longer without wondering when the next bunch is going to stop things, because they totally eliminate bunching at the head. We use the crary goldn-cut systam on the 30ft head and quick cut system on the 20ft. I perfer the goldn-cut in most conditions but it may shatter a few more soybean pods in extermely dry or excessive speed conditions.

I found that the hose mod does the exact same thing and hardly cost me anything. I haven't slugged our combine up in soys since I installed it (when I didn't have the reel set too high).

I use a AWS air reel which is a manifold type that mounts in front of your existing reel. I bought it last fall because our beans were so poor and could not get them to feed properly. I got the header mount fan but I am thinking of upgrading to a combine mount fan. If you were going to buy a new header and you could buy a crary finger reel in leau of a stock reel I would go that way, but if you are going to keep your header I would go with the manifold type. You will have to put the smooth stainless feather sheets on the header also. The system costs me 10250 CDN or around 6750US to install and I believe it payed for itself in one year.
