Combines Cutter Bars and Air Reels

Click on TIPS on the side bar and then go to Gleaner upgrades, then go to the header information page. It's all the way at the bottom labeled flex headers. All it is is a piece of pvc or suction hose approximately 3" bolted just behind the cutter bar and believe me it makes feeding so smooth and it doesn't hardly cost anything. Curt

I have a JD 224 with the Crary Air Finger reel. Does wonders! Header cuts very close to the ground and the air blows everything - except any rocks that will just sit on the cutterbar until you take them off. I wouldn't cut beans with out it.

If you are talking factory order I would order with SCH sickle. If you have notill conditions and have trouble with spearing old corn stalks you may prefer the quick cut system. Some confusion may be out there on quick cut. I call the factory quick cut the one that has double cut sections and sections protrude beyond front of guard a bit. In order to cut the tough stalks we have around hear we have to add hold downs on the quick cut system to prevent sickle from bowing up and eventially breaking. I believe there are other systems out there that are refered to as quick cut. If you want to order a factory equiped reel I would order the HCC level two. I highly suggest Crary air reels for I just have not found anything it won't feed. Heads can be ordered less reel. Only thing I have suggested to Crary reps is to build there reel with steggered fingers similiar to HCC level two. We have moded one of these newer reels that has the round tube to get the steggered design. I would like this design for there are times when air assist is not needed and then we could leave air drive unhooked. I also highly suggest poly skids to make setting less sensative to conditions or soils.
