Combines Deal or notIJ

MayerFarms, I do not understand why you are wanting to trade one large late model combine for two smaller and older machines. Your one 2388 will cut as much as two R52s even on a bad day. Explain yourself! K.A.

The 2388 equals an R62 in capacity. And the R52 by specs is almost 50% less capacity than the R62. So you will have no increase in capacity, or little at best. You will be running 2 motors instead of 1. Unless you need to have 2 machines running at the same time, Gleaners are a 2 hr changeover from corn to beans, you will not be accomplishing anything. Now if you take the time and money to Hyperize those R52's where capacity is increased to much closer to a stock R62, I wouldn't even think about the deal. Or simpler put, a 2388 runs a 12 row head easily as does the stock R62, the stock R52 is max'd out on an 8 row head and more comfortable on a 6 row head. Neighbors 2388 is just slower than my Hyper'd N6 with the same size head and his STS is one of JD's bigger jokes(3 yrs old now) as the 2388 does 75% of his harvest. Uncles 2388 doesn't clean as well as my Gleaner, but that can be operator settings.

Something doesn't seem right. Are you dealing in canadian dollarsIJ A 2001 2388 base machine should be worth the same as a late model r52 plus the 2 heads you mentioned. That means you are essentially buying 1 r52 plus corn head. As for capacity 2 r52's should cut 1.4 to 1.75 times as much as a 2388 depending on heads and which crop. I can't make an assessment until I get some more information.

2 R-52's will out do a 2388. An R-62 does equal it. But an R-52 doesn't have 50% less capactiy than a R-62. Atleast i don't think so. We have ran R-52's and have an R-62 now. There is a big differace. but not that big. If u r lookin at it from the capcity standpoint, then this would be a very good deal. Take how fast u could run with a 12 row head with a 2388. and then take how fast u can run a R-52 with a 6 row head because u will be running 2 which would be the same as running a 12 row head. This is just what i think. I may be wrong. I have been before

I think you might want to shop around to find a better deal. You should be a alot closer to even than $180000. A 2001 2388 is worth $200000+ atleast that is what they're asking on Agdealer and the 2 R52's with heads $90-110000 ea. I would think if you bought the flex head you be close assuming the 2388 is free and clear. My next question is why trade a big 1yr machine for smaller machines that are 8 and 10 years oldIJ

This has nothing to do with this guys deal, but I just had to ask what are you doing to spend 2 hours changing from corn to beanIJIJ We swapp heads change adjustment in less than 30 minutes. Kurt

What the IJ late model for two older ! They will eat you up on the next deal. I'd be keeping as young as. 2388's i've seen dont seem like real slouchs,especially when Hp tweaked up a bit and waste gate valve operating correctly.

gnner, Ya you may be wrong. My 2388s will run 3.5 to 4 with 12 row head. Will an R52 run 7 to 8 with a six row head. Not the ones I've seen. Happy New Year! K.A.

Will the next trade be to trade the 2 R52's for three l3'sIJ Just kidding! If it was for a couple of 2000 R52's then I would have think hard about it. Seems like you will be giving up a lot in terms of warranty and new features. What head are you running on the 2388IJ Is it the new "AFX" 12 row machineIJ Also a good point was made lower that it will also add people to make it go. Add in the cost of operating two machines, fuel, oil, transport time etc... Doesn't sound that good to me.
