well put Tom , the days of farming for the good life style are nearly gone as, if your farm dosn't produce or you have a bad season it can make life pretty miserable and most of the time through no fault of your own (weather, and prices)funny how everything goes up in price reletive to inflation what would grain and livestock be worth if that was true IJ Dont mean to be negative as i love being a farmer and bringing our kids up on farms but its hard to be positive all the time as our media especially our own farmers paper the first five pages are so negative makes me wonder whats going on in the worldIJ anyway better go hope we all have good cops and good prices.

This is a disease that started a few years ago in the automotive industry. The objectives among the executive band now seems to want few franchise owners and even fewer franchises. I personally think it is poor policy and degrades customer service, but this seems to be the rotgut theory now taught at our MBA shools. Next time you go by a Deere franchise, look at the signage. If the facility has a 2 pole sign, it is a "premier" dealership. If it is a single pole supported JD sign, they are referred to as an associate dealership, or what JD management would discretely like to rid itself of. This is not just a Deere policy, I can assure you that this is the direction that CNH and AGCO want to go as well. There are too many incompetent clowns in corporate American management today in nearly all Fortune 500 companys, not just AG. I personally will not deal with the monopolists even if I have to drive another 50-75 miles to deal with an independent. I currently drive past one of the RDO monopolies on my way to a independent Deere dealer for my Deere needs.

Knew that Birkey's had bought out the Prophetstown dealer, but had not heard about the 5 year closing. Birkey has been a pretty progressive store for years, even working with some shortline dealers to set up parts disribution centers for the smaller lines. They did a big favor picking up some of the pieces of defunct Integrated Ag that was a disaster from the beginning. But unfortunately, they did not pick up all the stores which left some big holes. Any idea how the dealer in Henry Il is holding up these daysIJ They did not really want to grow that much so I don't know if they are still in business or not.

Well the guy in Henry is still goin he not very friendly to long distance customers i found out but at one time they were in the Export Bus with combines to Brazil pretty heavy Birkeys plan to move Ptown else where to fill a gap and Make Polo the Biggesst case dealer in there company and in Il they just built 7 bay shop with room for 8010 in every bay in Polo
