Decreasing humidity in the home

We're running a dehumidifier 24-7 but our humidity won't drop below 75%. Is it possible to get a home with an unfinished basement down to 50% humidity or less? Other than the dehumidifier what would help us lower it? Opening the curtains? Closing the curtains? Cranking the heat up? Turning it down? Running fans? We've plumb run out of ideas.

That is a lot, especially for this time of year! Close your curtains, crank up the heat, and get rid of any standing water in your house. Also make sure all the vents are open if you're running a central air system.

It will probably help lower the humidity if you can run a dehumidifier in your basement for a while. Keep your bedroom doors open to increase the airflow a bit as well. 50% humidity is doable.
