I sure will be glad when Dakota starts running them "Claas" combines so he can whineandcomplain on the Cat page. Maybe somebody will believe his line of BS!

you are exactly right. What till he has to work on one of them in the field on a hot summer day. He will then wish they would have gone Red. Just to work on the cylinder you have to remove the left tire and side sheet. Then you have to pull it out on the ground, take a torch cut the welds and remove bolts just to remove the cylinder bars. That is too much work. Those Red and even Green machines are so much easier to work on.

Budman, you have never worked on one then, You might pull the tire and sheet metal off just because you do not lnow better. I myself would address the cylinder bars in the corret manner by accessing the cylinder from the front, it makes things a whole lot simpler.

little al, shouldn't be to hard to knock socks off JD in corn. How wornout are the rice machinesIJ If they have rotors with kicker bars on the back half will maybe work in corn the way they are, other questions: what type of sieves are in combineIJ what type of concaves and grates are in itIJ Another interesting site is ironsearch.com and put in what you're looking for, you'll get some idea of prices at dealers around country etc. e-mail me with any other question and we'll try and kick some butt![ha]

I'll check all of this stuff out. what kind of corn header do i need, 6 row on 38" rows. what do i need to look for when looking at a used head. I'm concerned with the machine i'm looking at it does not have the long screens. with it not having long screens, will this hurt me. i like everything else about it.

Rooster, Have you are right to access cylinder bars from the front if you had a JD. But have you ever worked on a Cat machineIJ The repair manual tells in order to work on the cylinder bars you MUST do as I said.
