Claas developed that system a few years back and has it in the Cat lexion 560 as standard equipment, and it worked real well in soybeans and corn during its demo.

JD has had the beater above the straw walkers on their European combines since the 70s. Don't know when Class did the same.

I think the machine will be 9000 series WTS (walker tine seperation) with more hp.

I asked a salesman a few weeks back about sales difference of STS and walker and whether or not CTS was on the way out and I was told 2005 will be the last year a walker machine can be outfitted with rice package and will only be corn and beans or small grains after that. I dont believe they will ever do away with the walker machine, tweak it though, is a different story.

RumorsIJ Fact is right now that the market is flooded with used STS, while 50 series walkers are hard to find and increasing in price. In other words, the used combine market values the walker higher than the STS. That is contrary to JD intension to make the STS their only machine. Could it be, that in order to help the STS some more JD is spreading rumors about discontinuing the walker just to discourage potential walker customersIJ

Welcome to our world!!!! U can't buy an Australian made Combine for love or money. We have to put up with the soybean sided toys from the US or Europe. But yet Australia makes the best Draper fronts in the world. Go figure!
