Exhibition breeds

Does anyone here raise exhibition breeds? We raise our livestock for meat, milk, eggs, and fiber, so exhibition breeds never held much appeal. What do you do with your exhibition animals? Is it a profitable venture or more about having fun showing off your skills? I'd love to learn more about it if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Are exhibition animals those that we find in trade shows and fairs? I suppose this kind of farming involves a partnership with various companies where the farmer gets paid to rear the animals.

I think breeders can make a tidy profit if they're reputable and their stock is valuable in carrying desirable traits. They can also get various government grants if the animal is on the threatened or endangered list and they're willing to work with colleges or conservation groups.
