I'm not a total fan of either 1 or 2... however... They didn't argue the same points... they both wanted inspections and every other alternative exhausted before military action was undertaken. Originally I didn't think this, but I now firmly believe that this war was about Oil (see pre-911 documents dividing Iraqi oil fields on Judicial Watch web site) and money for Haliburton and other "select" corporations. Cheney's been playing a lot of people for fools and getting away with it. History will reveal this to be true... but will you still care IJ The Bush admin ordered preparations for an Iraqi invasion to begin (against the better judgement of top Generals) before Afghanistan was secured. They were pushing to have military operations begin while weather was ideal. Inspectors hadn't found anything. They couldn't find any thing. The intel that Kerry saw was CIA_PNAC creations which excluded key pieces of information which would have made the case for war less vigorously. Kerry didn't deny it during the debate, but he didn't see all the intel that Bush_Cheney had in front of them. like I said, I'm not a 100% Kerry fan, but are you aware that Kerry had more retired Generals and key military advisors support him than any other prez candidate ever... you can't deny that Generals are usually pretty smart dudes. Unfortunately, we do have a short memory. War sucks. A HUGE reason I think this war was a mistake is because it's the first time U.S. has ever attacked a sovereign nation without first being attacked by them. Sadam WAS NOT involved with 9_11 ! ! ! I hate what he did, but there is a lot of history here... going back to the '40s. These so called "wmd"s (most of which had been destroyed and accounted for by the U.N.) were from the U.S. and if any had been missed, were beyond their usefullness. Sadam needed his @$$ kicked, but there's a right and a wrong way to do it. There's a bigger picture here, and the U.S. now looks like a drunken redneck trouble-maker in the eyes of the world... any reasonable person cares about what our alies think... many American's turned their back on them... so you say Germany and France were in cahoots with Sadam... they were selling oil exploration and drilling equipment as specified by the oil for food program... as was Haliburton. Point... there's a right and wrong way to do it. If all other options for Iraq had been exhausted and he posed an "imminent threat", I guarantee the other countries would have joined us (they're still with us in Afghanistan) and we would have royally kicked his @$$ with 300-500 thousand troops... enough to guard everything and get the country up and running again... The only way we can win against this enemy is to get everyone working with us. Nothing against the GOP personally, but I don't like things to be only being one sided to the point of deception for the casual observer_reader. Have a great day.
