Favorite side dish for Christmas

We were invited to a friend Christmas potluck dinner. I'm looking for a new recipe to try. What's your favorite side? Thanks in advance!

Had a delicious candied apple side dish in Nashville. It was basically the filling from apple pie but served with dinner. Whoa is all I have to say about that.

It's almost that time of year again. Anyone have any interesting side dishes? Learn anything new this year? I'm going to try a corn casserole. I've made it a few times and it gets better each time.

The corn casserole sounds delicious! We make scalloped potatoes and scalloped corn! They are two of the favorites for our family. We make the scalloped potatoes a couple of times a year but the corn only at Christmas.

My favorite side is mashed potatoes, but that's not at all exotic. Maybe they haven't tried hashbrown casserole or broccoli casserole. Those are great for potlucks. Actually, I don't think I've ever eaten a casserole that I didn't like.
