Free range or coop

My neighbor just got some chickens. The problem is he is going to let them be free range chickens. I've got a feeling that he is going to lose most of those chickens. My dogs won't go on his land but I'm sure the chickens will come on mine.

Your neighbor will need a coop either way. The coop is where they roost at night and lay their eggs. Some free-range chickens do without a run though. I guess that's the situation you're facing. How far away does your neighbor live? I doubt the chickens will go very far. At least not in my experience. Maybe it'll work out.

I really hope that the chickens don't come on your land, just for their safety. I would think that they wouldn't go very far either. I do agree that they will need a place for nighttime.

My grandmother has free-range chickens and she only lets them out in the afternoon. They stick to her land and don't wander far from the chicken tractor she has set up for them. Hopefully, your neighbor's chickens will do the same!
