I run a 36' draper and have no troubles at all. It also handles my 12 row corn head which is a lot heavier than that 40' is. I think it is around 12,000 pounds by may be off a little. Are you getting a CDF cylinderIJ Is your field star the new touch screenIJ I really enjoy mine but they need to make some improvements in the software for printing maps. Just my 2 cents Kurt

I did get the CDF rotor. How fast can you run your draper head in soybeansIJ Do you think the R75 could handle a 40' draper. Called MacDon but they didn't have answer because they had not yet tried the 40' on an R75. I wanted an Agleader Insite monitor until I learned the Fieldstar also monitored the engine functions. The Ag leader software will read the Fieldstar data, if I understand it correctly.

I would definately have nddan and tbran give you some pointers on how to set it up. I think nddan has alot of drapers up there if I am not mistaken.

G'Day Kip Your new R75 will handle a 40 ft front no worries. Silver Shoes is right give Dan Hurtt at Hurtt Equipment a ring or TBran a ring or Email. If your dealer is a good one he would have heard of this site, and knows what goes on. Make sure the fuel pump on engine is right up to specs as combines run different to tractors and trucks, does it have the new sisu engineIJ You could get radical and check out a Bison rotor for your machine! I have seen it in action and was very impressed. Just one other idea that you might not want to try right now (You need to get a cut off wheel to do this on you new shiny machine) is to have the front feeder house taken off and get them (your dealer) to install a flat floor transitions from the front feeder to the rear feeder! Currently they have a hump at the rear feeder roller and guys that have been changing them to a flat floor are increasing the capacity by quite a bit. If you do a season with your combine as stock then come back next season and let us convince you to do all the upgrades you will be a very happy camper with the increase in performance for the little bit of investment time! Do you have a number for tbran and nddan. I'd really like to talk to them before I purchase my R75. The machine has a CDF rotor which I will stick with. No bison dealers in central Illinois. I do like the looks of removing the hump in floor of feeder chain and adding a flat section. May be even more critical with a 40' head. That's a lot of crop to move up such a narrow throat.

I'd like to add Mauer bin extension which will make the total capacity 400 bushel. Does anyone know of a larger bin extesion. All I need is about 450 bushel max to make a complete round with an eight row corn head.

Kip, I am also just a tick away on signing for a new R75. I would FOR SURE call tbran,he has to be the smartest guy I have ever talked Gleaners with.Where are you dealing for yours atIJ I am at Kuhns in Arthur,they are real hard to beat on price.And since Tbran didnt have one,I am going with them,or Johnsons in Albion. Are you going to add that to the top of the extensions that are on there nowIJIJ I am wanting to know what type to use also,I know a guy that put one on a 65,but he took the existing extensions off and then put the mauer on,it holds 375 that way he said. IG

Kip, good to see you finally decided to go try a Gleaner. let us know how you get along and how it compares to a Deere. Went to an Agco_dealer meeting last week and they showed what the Fieldstar monitor can do. A lOT of information can be shown on there. Pretty impressive. Was told that within a few months there will be autosteer available on the combines and I believe you have to have the Fieldstar to run it. I wouldn't worry much about the weight of the draper head. Should be less weight than a 12 row cornhead. Since your on fairly flat ground, extra weight on the back shouldn't be necessary. The shorter feederhouse on a Gleaner compared to a Deere makes a lot of difference in weight distribution. Header doesn't hang as far in front of the front wheels. The machine will do pretty good "as is". A little "tweaking" for your local conditions will just make it better. Good luck.

I'm sure tbran will jump on hear and give you a couple pointers. He would be the most knowledgeable dealer I know that has tweaked the CDF with steep pitch helical system. I do the steep pitch system a little different for I run all 25" cylinders. I have only been around one CDF where everything was run bone stock. It ran wheat only after a hot dry season and it worked just fine. It had the Sisu engine witch was using a Gallon less fuel per hour as compaired to Cummins QSC last year with eight bar sweeped rotor. Goes to show you can't allways compare one year to the next. You almost have to be in same field at same time to do some of this comparing. I think you know my feelings on floor mod for reports are nothing but positive positive positive. Sorry I can't help much on draper heads for we still run pickup heads, auger flex heads, and rigid heads. I can tell you that feeders will cooperate better while using draper heads for it seems feeder housings are then carried higher to promote better transition between chains and drapers will usually feed very even. Maybe some one could post how well they are personally getting along with feeder mods.
