No, I think John Deere parts are not as unpredictably high as AGCO. I work on both. I tell the local dealers that the reason I ask for the price first on most of the parts I buy is that I have no idea what the price is going to be. Stupid stuff like the fiberglass grill frame on this tractor--another 800 bucks. I think of all the struggling machine shops around the nation that could build that thing out of metal for $50 if you gave them the opportunity. To be sucessful I think AGCO needs to turn around the opinion that they are related to companies that in the past sold machines that had a high depreciation factor. Today this 8030 tractor on the average is worth $10,000 less than the equivalent JD tractor. If upkeep is the same or more that just does not work. They erode confidence in their present product by gouging us for past products. The worst is the cosmetic parts prices and how many awful looking AC tractors result from this. The JD boys spit polish theirs.
