You make a good point 560. What other crop besides corn will max out the clean grain elevatorIJ High yielding wheat pulls too hard to get ground speed fast enough to max the elevator, don't know about rice. What I'm saying is if the elevator could be tweaked just a little,a stronger drive and 1 or 2" larger elevator (10-12%) like they did 1400 to 1600 series. I've seen our 2388 at 3600 bph pushing a 12x30" corn hd. If it could be increased to be able to move 4000 t0 4250 bph would bring the '88' to a nice size and capacity machine, not the 'heavy old sow' as some on this site call the 8010 (7010IJ). I feel the sieve capacity is there, 894 sq in MORE than the sts 9860-9760-9660 and 2128 sq in lESS than the 8010. Without adding any weight, they could power it with the 543 cu in motor replacing the 505 pulling 320--330 hp. This extra hp would be welcomed in tough pulling wheat, green stem soybeans and muddy rice and corn fields. Would have to make the rotor drive stronger, fewer broken belts. (How does JD get the belt to lastIJ) I feel the grain tank is big enough with the Crary or Maurer topper (330-335bu). We use a grain cart. A case engineer was asked to have a larger grain tank said "remember that for every extra 100bu you put up on top it is like carrying your pickup up there". It takes more frame (heavy) to handle the wt. I suppose as long as we are adding we could add an inch to the unloading auger diameter. leave the cab alone. let's call it a 2788, a good size middle wt. machine. What better to do on a cold nite than to dreamIJ Sorry so long.

(How does JD get the belt to last) I don't think they do. I've seem munerous comments about carrying an extra belt at all times! They have a light that comes on when you're about to break the belt, I beleive. Chads

a 6010 would be great, as sales of good 1666's and 21_2366's have been super strong in our area. CaseIH can't compete with 2 combines!!!! And, w_ the CVT drives CaseIH has the only system capable of putting more HP to the rotor_threshing system, it's a natural! Chads

I would guess that CNH (eventually) will want both CaseIH and new Holland combines to share the same basic chassis, cleaning systems, engines, etc.; - that's why I believe it's only a matter of time when the 7010 will surface to replace the 2388.

I sure hope the Case IH Product Planning people are monitoring this thread. This is a good start in defining Design Requirements for the improved 2388. I strongly suspect if they made the changes suggested on this thread and gave it new styling to look like the 8010 and then call it the 7010, they would sell a lot of them. And take the 8010 and make it a 9010 with about 450 to 500 HP and put 1050_50-R42 tires on it. This would blow the competition out of the water. If you follow the 8010 threads you will find the biggest complaints other than quality of manufacture are lack of power in rice and tires that are too small for work in wet soils

But the 8010s are poor in quality. I've got a friend with two of them. They even had to take the return apart and get an angle grinder in their to grind a gobby weld that was nicking the chain. Almost all the hydraulic "o" rings in the fittings blew out. Even on the filter. He told me "it's like they didn't even tighten them". This is two of MANY problems they had. These things are brand new. They traded in two 1995 2188s and paid a fortune in differance. Several times the dealership had to bring out the spare "2388" while the 8010s were broke down. The CRs aren't much better either. These problems seem to be common and expanding with this stlye. I have never never ever heard of problems like this happening to a Deere ever. I know of one guy that's taking his CR back because it's junk. He couldn't get his combining done this past year because of it. Now his crop sits under a foot of snow. He's furious!! Sure they're big, and fast, and have blinking lights. But they are still junk. The 2388s might not be as big, fast, or have as many blinking lights. But I do think they are far more reliable.

What will happen now, given case's illustrious history of "listening to you", they will do nothing, deere will read this and put big hp, 400 bu. grain tank, and a high rate unloading system on a..wait a minute, never mind. Personally I wish someone would give deere enough competition to get prices down but that is probably never going to happen now. GS
