Ask the US Geringhoff distributor.

Someone please answer his questions because I would like to know about them too. Haha.

We do not run them.....but in the last 2 years 4 12-22 and one harvesttec 12-22 have been running around us.......rumor is they are around 90,000.....OUCH......we use to run KandM roto choppers (back when we use to chop).....By the looks of geringhoff.....I think you have to be on top of keeping the roller choppers sharp...HAve seen some ugly looking jobs....The harvestech looked great....but have only seen our neighbors one season.... I'm approaching my 10th year with a 4rn geringoff on my 5820 harvester. They're (obviously) a little more power-consuming than a regular snapper head, maintenance costs are higher due to the roller choppers, and they're definitely NOT a high speed header. 4.5 mph is about top speed for these units, even if they are kept in "tip-top" condition. I would buy another one! What else would you like to knowIJ

Sounds like you guys are not talking about the Roto Disc model which is the best and newer model. I have used an 8 row 22 inch for 5 years, and they are great. Will post more later.

Used an 8 row Harvestec chopping head since 2001. Upgradd to 8 row Geringhoff Rota Disc last year. Very happy with switch. No comparison with Harvestec (Harvestec uses lawn mower blade to shred stalks. Gets dull and head fell apart every year). Cut 2400 acres with Geringhoff with no downtime. Cutting discs needed to be changed probably at 2000 acres but made it through to finish. Dealer just serviced and moved front five discs to back and back to front. labor was about $600. Other parts replaced $160 and dealer did warranty work on auger which broke during final pass. Said Geringhoff replaced a few from 04 models. No other problems. really good chop on stalks. Would recommend to friends .
