Thanks Rolf. I couldn't figure why the Gleaner head wouldn't feed as good as any. Then I hear enough complaining and take a look. It is fairly evedent that strip of iron could easily hold up the short and weedy straw. Just grinding front square edge should alow material to flow under the auger much better. I have a roll of steel tape that has adhesive on one side and it would likely work great for the job. I got that roll of tape many years ago at hardware store and don't know what the use was meant for. Maybe duct work for heating systems or something. I'll have to take a sneak peak at what other manufatures use at rear of feather sheet. Maybe if the have hold down iron like Gleaner it may be tucked under auger further. Catch ya later.
