Got a late R-62,and 2 Agco tractors with Cummins, probably not the worst engines, but not near the best either.Change could be good and it will be under Agcos umbrella not outside.

I'll take that bet. I have worked in both green and silver shops. In neither case were we able to get Cummins to respond to urgent problems. To them they all rate the same. Good luck getting your local cummins guy out at midnight to work on your r75. As for them being expert......most cummings tech are just real good parts changers. I have had to fix a lot of problems created by so called "engine guys". Ask the farmer who spent around $6,000 on low HP problems with an engine mechanic only to learn the main drive belt wasnt adjusted right. Ya buddy, get them specialist right out there. They cant get parts any faster than your dealer, they dont understand farming in general, and they sure dont know any thing about how that engine relates to your equipment. I have been around for all the Agco changes from the end of the west allis engines till now. I am all for an engine that Agco owns. Before this my choice was Cat......but this aint bad either. vstk

Gateway Cummins in ST. louis has done all our service. We had a Versatile 875 with an 855 go down a few years back after about 8500 hours. Complete rebuild job for a hair under $8000 and done in 2.5 days. The heads were pulled off Monday and reworked in the shop overnight(24 hour service, no AGCO dealer around here is in the shop after 5 or maybe 7 or 8 in season) and back on our farm by 8am Tuesday. Same for the turbo, pump and injectors. The bottom line is no one around here would call any AGCO dealer for a Cummins issue because they have no or little experience with them. I'll take my local "parts changers" any day. Our local service tech spends at least half his time on ag equipment. Maybe your Cummins shop isn't that good. I'll take ours just keep AGCO from the motor and don't screw up a good thing. AGCO's miniscule market share in our area would shrink even more if they go back to a foreign engine.
