Doh! Why didn't I think of that. I've never felt so much like Home Simpson in my life, but that's totally who I'm channeling with that one.If I'm not mistaken, I believe you practice plant breeding, which means you probably have a microscope on the premises. Take a sample by scraping the goat's ear and put it under the microscope. You should be able to see the mites moving.
The gunk in its ears should resemble coffee grounds. Sometimes you can tell that it's blood. If the gunk is yellow or green then it's more likely to be an ear infection instead. Mites can lead to an ear infection, but the coffee grounds will still be there as the tell-tale sign.
