Combines Going from a MF 750 to 9400

I would go with a 9500 if you can justify one. It has more power, bigger bin, and more productivity. Just my opinion BG

Had a 1990 9400. Way under powered. Struggled in tough cutting beans but did ok in corn. I upgraded to a 1995 9400 couple of years ago. It had the bigger engine and has been a great improvement in power. Buyer of my old machine called and I told him about low power but he bought it anyway. Year later he blew up the engine lugging it in beans. Another farmer I knew went thru 3 engines before dealer traded him to a 9410 with bigger engine.

I have a '90 9400. My suggestion is look for a newer one with the 414 engine. The 359 in the 89's and 90's is not near enough. It's not bad in soybeans, but we ran corn this fall 230+ bpa and it was a struggle. When the engine rpm drops below a certain percent of rated, the electric parking brake engages. So we end up running in 1st gear alot to avoid this. The '91's have a manual parking brake and the 414 engine. A much better machine.

I only hobby farm now, I farm 320 acre 1_2 half corn and 1_2 beans, so speed is not a big problem, never had 200 + bpa yet so I would be very happy to have to slow down some.

I really doubt you will see a great increase in capacity. Neighbors have a 9500 with a 25 ft, header and an 850 with a 22 ft header. they say the 850 will make a round everytime the 9500 does.
