Combines Harvesting Canola

I use an airfoil, run the bottom seive set the same as wheat. setting the air properly is the trick. I try to keep the sample fairly clean, allowing the small tips of the pods to stay in the sample, use them as an indicator that I'm not blowing canola out the back. Concaves are about 2_3 open, use this as a starting point. We have every other wire removed from the front 3 concaves, in dry canola we'll use no blanks, if the straw is a little tough we'll put in the front blank. The big thing is to not overload the seives so don't over thrash, we'll usually have the air somewhere between 550-750 rpm. Our swath is 30' and can travel about 4.5 -5 mph. I have a St. John's rotor in my 8570 so I can run the rotor slower than a stock rotor. Good luck. Neil
