G'day Diesel price at the bowser (pump - gas station) is $1.55 per litre (approx $7.00 per imperial gallon) not sure what the US gallon conversion is. There is a rebate if the fuel is used exclusively on-farm ie tractors, harvesters etc.

Diesel fuel is actually priced higher than Unleaded petrol [ UlP ] thanks to the bloody greed of the politicians and bureaucrats who love to keep expanding their empires. The fuel companies also charge the highest prices that they think they can get away with. Of course there is no collusion on fuel prices is thereIJ. After all that is against the law isn't itIJ Diesel in western Victoria in the south east of Australia today was priced at $1.50 _ litre and UlP [ 92 oct ] at $1.45 _ litre. Translated, into US speak. ie; 3.785 litres _ 1. US gal. Currency exchange rate today = US$1.00 = AUD$1.0776 Aust. Diesel prices at the pump = US$5.27 _ US gal Unleaded petrol [ 92 oct ]= U$$5.09 _ US gal. Unleaded Petrol [ 98oct ] = US$5.62 _ US gal. We have a Goods and Services Tax of 10% plus an excise tax of 44c_ litre [ Tax is about US$2.00 _ US gal ] included in those prices, some of which farms and industries can get back on diesel when that fuel is used for commercial purposes. Outback Australians can be paying up to $2 a litre or US$7.00 _ US Gal.

Tim, why don't you grab a ride with Dan and come on down under to have a look at this joint some time in the future. Dan and Mary made it down here last year as did Tom [ Ohio Farm Boy ] and his missus. Put a bunch of guys together and get AGCO to find you a good guide to take you around this big dry continent of ours and enjoy a few weeks away from those whingeing customers of yours! We are different in all sorts of ways even if we speak roughly the same lingo. We swear a bit different in ways that can scandalise Americans, drink different beer, call your "football" a bit of a softy's game and drive on the wrong side of the road. We are also fit in with the rest of the world and use things like liters, meters, kilometers and kilograms. And if you don't have breakfast at home before driving be prepared to go hungry for a while as we don't have many road side eateries as Tom found out!
