Wet here now too in New Jersey. Beans so far 50-55 bu. (where the deer didn't get them). I've been picking and cribbing corn, so far 194 bu. per acre (very good yield for here). Friend of mine shelled one 12-acre creek bottom field (had been dairy pasture for many years) and the monitor tells him 261 bu. per acre. That is a stupendous yield for this area.

Here in Central and N.E. Mo. yields of corn and soybeans are very good. Harvest of both crops is behind, especially soybeans. To many cloudy rainy and damp days[13 days with rain since Oct. 1]. We have continued to pick corn ,but it's slow because of the mud.Grain carts having hard time traveling.

Very few beans still standing in southern Minnesota. The great white combine in the sky harvested most of mine on June 30th but left 16 bu_acre for me. We are 75% finished with corn and yields are anywhere from 50-150 depending on how badly hail got them. This was definitely the year to have good hail insurance. Those with crop insurance are still waiting for a payment. Drying has been a problem for us with record high propane usage when prices are also at record highs. Moisture isnt higher than normal so it must have something to do with hail damage. Maybe someone who knows more about it will come up with an answer.

Here in the S.W.part of Il. corn is nearly complete a few filds here and there (some mine yet) quite a few fields of beans still standing not much sun and more rain than we need the guys who plant wheat have most of it planted others will probably give up because of being too late yields have been great (but after two bad yrs. anything looks good!)things are getting wet with more on the way for next week. o well could have used some of this back in Aug. maybe the late beans would have made something. good luck everyone and farm safe. North Central Alberta, Canada. lots of snowed under crops, barley and canola, etc. Snow on the 16 OCT 04 and it stayed. Big-time farmers took their crops off wet, are now drying it. lots of reports of sprouted grain, poor grades and price. I have more than 1_2 of the crop snowed under, to bad really cause the crop was a good one. Oh well there is always next year, if the inputs don't get us all! No Fall work done, except cleaning off equipment for storeage.

Here in WC Wisconsin - I'm guessing about 70% of the beans are off. Average yields - 30-40. Only about 10% of the corn is off. Very difficult getting it dried down enough to even harvest for high moisture. Our corn has dried only 3 points in the last three weeks and that was BEFORE the 3+ inches of rain we've had the last few days. The few acres of corn we did harvest just to open some fields up was running about 185 dry bu_acre according to Fieldstar. A heckuva crop if we can just get it dried down a bit to get it off. Rain matters little here in terms of getting around in the fields due to sandy loam soils. After that 3+ inches, we could go out and cut just about anywhere on this farm today without leaving ruts. looks like most of us are in the same boat this year! Tom langan

S.E. Australia Dry,dry, dry!!!! 7.5mm of rain for the month of October(money month) for western Victoria!! September crops were looking not to bad and then we had to have this October! Driest October on record for our area!!! Just can't get a break over here, started looking after the farm back in 2000 and have yet to show my wife (Sharon) that there is some money in farming!!!! (when it rains!!!) It's been ten+ years since we have had a year were every one thinks it a great year, 20 mm rain fall event used to be a moderate rain fall now 5 to 10 mm is a big rain fall event!!!! My lentils are the only thing that's got some green about them at the moment and it's looking like a bit of rain coming tonight that might help them fill properly, 400 hectares of wheat that I should get my seed back I hope!!!! sorry for the winge, but us Aussie's realy need a bumper harvest one year soon to get any confidence back.
