How many yards are in a ton of dirt, if you're filling an area evenly at roughly a foot deep?

Rule of thumb is about a ton per cubic yard but moisture, density, type of dirt, number of rocks, can increase that.

a bank yard is aprox 3000 lbs. it depends on the material rock vs clay etc how much a yard of pile will weigh but rule of thumb is about 8 percent less.

Depends on the soil... Concret , for example weighs about 140lbs/FT3 27 CF/CY so a CUYD weighs 3,780lbs
Soil can weigh 3,00lbs/CUYD or as little as half that
