If you are asking me [posum] i am using a White 12 row 8700 in corn residue s_b residue and some wheat cover. I was thinking H H II could provide some info on planter attachments. I belive he sells these and sets up planters as well as services gleaners. could be mistaken;but would still like any info. thanks; Brooks

Yes, I was trying to get your attention, I sometimes get a little confused on the reply. I did not wish to butt in but thought I would at least let you know what we do. We are here in the ESE of NE, east of lincoln. We use CaseIH 900 planters and 100% no till. There are no attachments on our planters. Just the openers is all that cuts through the residue. I will plant right down the rows, plant at 2.5" deep. I plant into corn, milo, beans, wheat (oh I love planting into wheat stubble! like driving on carpet.) The only change we made from orgininal is to put weight on the planting units. We have no-tilled about 17 years now and we have reduced the weight on the planting units from 100 lbs down down to 65lb. The ground has become very mellow. I will add we drive on tracked rows. We do not drive anywhere else, just the same rows for all we do. One would think that those rows would be compacted but they are not. Your White 8700 is a good no-till machine. If you would send me an email at sh45422@windstream.net I will pass it over to our extension engineer, he is an expert in this. I am not meaning to take away a sale from Hyper Harvest II, I just would like you to consider not moving your residue, but just cutting through it. Thank you.

would be glad for you to pass on e-mail, it's in first post. we do use row cleaners in wheat stubble to help with hair pinning, we do not bale straw. pin them up in most other conditions. The info I was looking for from HHII was on liquid fertilizer placement. I have tried several brands of disc openers with little luck, winds up splashing on guage wheels and then up on planter. any thoughtsIJ thanks; Brooks

Just a vote for the Martin system that Hyper II sells. I have used Yetter,Dawn and now Martin and in my opinion there is no comparison. For me, the Martin system works the best in my clay soils. I need an aggressive row cleaner to clean the row ahead of the row unit that will not plug and I really like the spike closing wheels that gives good seed to soil contact but leaves the soil above the seed loose enough to allow for easier emergence. This system has worked very well for me in no-tilling corn into soybean stubble and no-tilling beans into BT corn stubble. As far as putting liquid beside the row, it is hard to beat the JD single disc, minimal disturbance and very good placement of the fertilizer. Martin has a row unit mounted disc that seems to be working well for guys that have them. A friend of mine has them on a 12 row Great Plains and has had minimal problems. For putting fertilizer on furrow I like the tubes that place the fertilizer in the seed trench ahead of the seed. This places the fertilizer below the seed and the roots grow down into the fertilizer. JMHO Pete Hinrichsen

I teach the Martin Till setup across the country. No expert like Dave but guide a lot of people his way because he is one. JD single disk off the row with N_S Martin row cleaner new double disk openers RID guage wheel tire, I like the soft one, old IH Keeton seed firmer(with tube if you like) Martin spiked closing wheels(R_C in reverse) looped drag chain No coulter unless you need stability on steep hills Hyper I_II taught me so be glad to help you Ed Winkle edwinkl@verizon.net
