I think you should buy a deere, that way there are more good used cheap Gleaners on the market for us guys that dont have problems with them. Oh and dont forget to come back here and complain about your JD when you have a few problems with it too. Sorry I like our 800 and 8000 heads, we have short beans too. Most of our short bean problems is when the sections get a little dull or the beans are tough. We have an air reel it helps dramatically, I know several other guys who are using them on the other colors also, getting the air blast to push the beans against the sickle a little bit helps amazingly. We have cut right at 900 acres of beans this fall from green stems to shortys. Most harvested fields look really nicely shaven. I also will swear by the SCH if the sections are sharp, no comparison. You can ask my buddy who accidently got his finger stuck in the sickle as I was turning the auger. NO it didnt cut it off, luckly but I didnt even feel the resistance when I turned the auger. If I could just get my dad to drive straighter in the 15 inch beans I would have it made. Just kidding Dad
