Flat side of elevator cover should be down when returning to cylinder. If it is green material bridging at the top I would think machine without return to cylinder would be worse. Is it your non hypered or partially hypered machine that is botheringIJ You may not believe how much less ground up material you would have to deal with if you finish up some hypering. I can't hardly believe how well we have a hand full of machines working up and above the ones that allready have all forward bars and many tweaks ect. All 800 and 8000 heads working great in all conditions as long as they have air reel. Short and or green beans will surely be a problem. I think there are some simple things that could be done with head to make them work much better without air reel. I made them suggestions in a post awhile back concerning 800 heads. I would be hot on that project if we didn't have 90% air reels around hear. What brand reel do you haveIJ If it is the HCC level two it could be as simple as trimming the flighting on the very outsides to allow reel to be brought back further. This made all the difference on a head we had without air reel. It doesn't matter how well built or tough these heads are for if they don't feed in your condition they are worth nothing. It's high time to get rid of the restrictions holding back the positive flow in the flex heads just like we have done in the feeders and processer. I hope you have your 8000 adjusted by now to work well in the rest of the conditions you run into. Good luck

Nope but I have seen them cutting as I pass by the fields moving to other fields and they arent cutting any faster than we are. I always remember what my shop teacher said in high school. He always wanted us to sharpen chisels because he said a dull chisel is more dangerous than a sharp one. Same concept with sickles for me. We try to keep sharp sections and dont seem to have many problems, but I cant stress enough that the SCH sections and guards are much more durable than the factory setup. One head is the old allis cutterbar and the other is the SCH if they get dull feeding problems do arise. We put the hose mod on both heads this year to protect from rocks, but I think it maybe an extra bonus for feeding in short beans. They dont lay on the cutter bar. I will agree with you, if it doesnt go in the combine smoothly it wont go through the separator or out the back smoothly either. If you think you need a john deere head then you very well may need a deere head. If enough ppl stop buying agco heads I suppose they could try to copy the deere head if deere doesnt feel like suing them. When we get in some really damp conditions we will move the cut height up a notch. Im not saying that you dont need a deere head, it might work just the way you want it too. There seems to be some ppl that have problems with the 800 head and there are some ppl who love them. I personally like ours just fine and I dont really want to put a green header on our silver combine unless I see someone flat out cutting us. If I could get 11,000 bushels of beans out everyday like today I would be happy, they were 13.5 when we started so obviously the conditions were damp yet and they didnt seem to have many problems although they were running a little slow until the toughness came out. I have a neighbor with a 2388 who keeps saying I cant believe you guys are cutting those beans. They switched back to corn because they were too tough and they were 38-52 dekalbs, same as ours. Nope I wont say that allis's guards are twice as good as deeres, but the SCH and allis guards work very well when sharp. Even though the Germans cant jump in and help us in a good fight kicking Saddam butt, they can still make quality steel. Just the like the air cooled engines, quality is all I can say about them. 7000 hrs on a 9670 and not a lick of problems with the engine. Im not sure what the price is of the guards I guess I just pick them up and charge it, kinda like the fuel I dont even look at the price anymore. I have to have it so I just take it out the door. Man, now that I think of it I dont really think our NE land is worth more land taxes than our KS ground. Specially when it gets less rain. We were just talking about that this morning going to the field. Did you know that you have to also have commercial insurance on any vehicle over 10,000 pds in NE, what a crock of doo doo. I just paid insurance today because I was informed by a NE DOT that I had to have FORM E, commercial insurance. It went from 200 to 658 a year, adding that to the 500 dollar overload I think NE and their liberal politics can stick it. I am tired of paying their bills. Oh yeah and their highways, thats another issue, what exactly do they spend all that money on, its obviously not the higways, Kansas state hiways are like turnpikes and Nebraskas are like rural roads with chug holes.

You hit the nail right on the head with the land taxes and hiways in NE. I could drive from a neighboring state blindfolded and could tell the moment we cross the border into NE. On top of this we are in the top 5 in gas taxes. Some might say if you don't like NE, "Move." I guess I am just an old fool that can't pull up stakes anymore.

By the Deere head,and then when your ready to trade,you'll cry again.I traded Gleaner heads for half of what my neighbor traded Deere,and mine was 3 years older and I went up one size and he traded head for head.

You need help from your dealer. That AGCO head should almost never push dirt; it's probably the nicest floating head I've ever seen. The reel fore-aft actuators must have a simple fix. I've always found the AGCO flex heads are a joy to run and generally easy to get dialed in.

On 9-29-05 I told you it needed full fingered augers. I am glad you have seen the light. Agco does not lead anything in the combine business any more. I have both heads and the JD flex head is far supior.
