Combines is deere the best

last time I looked at the top of my computer screen it said "John Deere Combine Talk Show". So who cares about any other colorIJ lets talk about John Deere's. The other colors can go to there own site. I'm just a part timer with a 7700 Turbo Variable Speed who likes to learn all he can from those with more experience. Want to talk green. I put a new crank and overhaul in my 9500 with 2055hrs.Harvesting 95 bu corn. John Deere had no sympathy what so ever.Took the fun out of farming this fall.

Deere dose make some good equipment, but they are not the best. I've owned very little John Deere but have run plenty of it gor the neighboers new and old. I own a John Deere combine and a Gleaner,the Gleaner is slower but easier to work on and makes a excellent grain sample. All my tractors are red there easy to fix and cheap to buy. I will admit JD dose make and excellent small sqaure baler I could go as fast as it would take it and it would always tie and throw it to the back of the wagon. There round balers are ok but they tend to plug up in the pickup for my taste but gehl is even worse. Some one said fuel efficant yah right my JD combine needs a fuel truck to chase it around the feild so I can make a round and ever herd of a 4630 or 5020 gulp gulp, now a 2020 diesel or a 8120 thats different. Its all up to you on what you but but unless its cheap and in good shape my blood wont be green.

I would have to say that from personal experience that Deere is the best, but I am willing to back that up. We have tried other colors: white, red, blue and silver from combines to tractors to swathers to balers and have always come back to green. We have a 7720 that runs good and does a good job on several different crops as long as I remember that it has limitations. This fall I rented a 2188 to do some custom work with and I think that it is also a good machine so I am open to that fact as well. In my opinion, John Deere equipment IS more expensive but for the extra money I feel that they are more comfortable and easier to operate, service, and have higher trade-in value. In this area (central WA) I notice that the farmers who actually drive their own equipment have John Deere and those who spend little or no time behind the wheel tend to have Case or Ford (New Holland). People can argue all day long about what is better but what really matters is what YOU want in a piece of equipment and how much are you willing to pay for it.

I could write a book on this subject. I will say that John Deere has a very good dealer and parts net work. We have all been brain-washed to believe that green has the best resale value, but I have seen 9600's sell for $18,000 to $25,000. It seems like red, yellow, and silver can do much better on 10 year old machines. John Deere also needs to give up on building there own engines. They just can't keep up with Cummins or Cat. I used to work for a farm that had an Agcostar, a Ford, a Cat, and a John Deere all in the 425hp range. luckily we had the Cat and the Agco because the other two were in the shop most of the time. You can talk all you want about dealer support, warranty, etc. I just want something that keeps going and has good a_c.

You are right about being brainwashed. There is not a single company out there where every line of equipment they make is the best and you have to be crazy to believe it. There is just to many variables from soil type to moisture to temperature to diferent type crops and operators ability. Our operation runs a rainbow of equipment from shades of red,orange,green,yellow,silver etc. and in some cases more than one brand of each color.
