What is Deere best atIJIJ Marketing - no doubt about it!!! Copying would be next best!!!! Engineering - doubtfull!!!! Maybe the reason the owners are driving is the selfimposed ego trip they get - in the other case where the owner is not driving, he may be at his desk counting "beans" and has finally realized that there can be more profit owning "non-green"

Well, I can tell you a few stories about JD and other co.s too, When they sell their machines to lesser developed countires they promise the world when it comes to selling but once problems happen they bail out. JD sold millions upon millions of equipment to Turkmenistan (Central Asia) in 1996, most of it was 9500 combines. Well you want to see them now - about 95 % of them are park up like a graveyard as they cant be arsed to supply simple parts and provide any backup. The 8000 series tractor are also stuffed mainly due to little knowlegd on how to fix them . Is this what you call service backup. These guys are still paying off for machines that dont work - that really isnt fair. Its okay for you guys who can nip down to your local dealer but when you cant find one in country then your stuffed. Other co.s are doing well in these areas now as they have worked on developing more important issues such as training and supply of parts.

Sounds like a lot of sour grapes falling from this vine. Check your JD history and you will find Deere had a rotary combine back in the 60's but were not satisfied with the grain quality. The STS is nothing like any other rotary other than it's a rotary. As for resale values, I saw a 250 hr Gleaner sale at auction for under $60,000.00 and only 2 yrs old. Price a 4020 then an 806 IH. All the companies are making good machinery and it's all high priced, but the used market still has Deere with the highest resale value.Deere may not be the best in the world but they are way ahead of whoever is in second place! check the stat's, it's on the record.

there is no company better than the other our farm looks like a rainbow jd corn head on an gleaner ect. i have always said if you could take some of the good features from all the companys and make a machine it would be the best on any thing from tillage to tractors to combines because any body that does there own mantaince as said that at least once because they all have some not so nice qualitys so i just pick a machine with the bad qualitys i can live with

Angus 11, If your buying used how can you afford JD unless your trading another JD in, I don't care about resale value, I have all red tractors and mostly red machinery. What I'm getting at is that a 4020 is worth what it was 10 years ago average of $8500 and a 806 is the same as it was 10 years ago too about $5500. I can say they do make some good stuff but they are not the best, there isnt a best. JD made just as much junk as IH. If you can buy the same quality for less why wouldn't you buy the cheaper oneIJ

Not trying to argue a farmers ability to purchase, just pointing out what the market trend is today. I do agree and stated that all the manufactures are making good equiptment. The rest is just preference and where you want to be when it's time to trade again.
