Combines IT S A DEAl

Sounds like a great deal for everyone. Three farmers now have the combines they want, and a dealer was able to move some equipment.

What was the dealer thinking selling a man with a 9510 an R 52IJ There's no way an R 52, hyperzied or not, is going to keep up with a 9510. I bet the farmer was disapointed with the 52.

The farmer in question came and looked at my 9650, and we struck-up a conversation about the R52. He mentioned that in corn the R52 and the 9510 weren't far apart as far as capacity was concerned, but in heavy wheat and barley, the Deere walked away with the show. His secondary concern was the Cummins engine; - he felt it lacked torque and it continually flucuated with the least amount of additional load being placed on the machine. In fact, he could seldom keep his rpm's once the bin got 3_4 full. Cummins and AGCO were both out to witness this problem, but neither had a solution. He has no malice towards Gleaner, it was just the wrong combine for the job. He should have bought an R62 or a C62.

I tried "SilverTurnedGreenButThenFoundASuckerAndGotRidOfMyDeereSoI'mBackToAllSilverAgain" but the name was too long and slightly impractical!

Everybody came out on top 'cept the guy who got rid of the 52 in trade for the Deere. Maybe the guy should have taken a good look at the Hyper Mods and he just might have been happy with his 52. Just my opinion.... Tom langan

I think he could have made the 52 work with the mods, and I'm not sure of his reasoning for not trying the "hyperizing" route, especially since he was generally happy with his AGCO dealer and the capacity of the 52 in corn and beans. In my area, there are a remarkable number of farmers who don't believe in modifying thier combines. The general opinion is that the company engineers know best, and if there was a better way to build a combine, the companies would build the combines accordingly. You wouldn't believe the "flack" I took when I tore my C62 apart and installed smaller rear beater pulleys and sunnybrook mods.
