maybe the gleaner just wasn't his cup of teaIJ You can knock someone if they don't "YOUR" brand of combines maybe they know what works for him her best. I'm sure hyperizing takes a lot of time and money and some people just don't care to do that they just want a combine that they can take to the field. just my 2 cents worth.

6100, you're right. I live in central KS close to the Hesston factory and none of the local dealers here even know what I am talking about when I ask about "Hyperizing". I have a stock R52 and wouldn't want to change a thing on it. I couldn't imagine being able to go faster as we already cruise with it. It's hard enough to keep track of 24 foot of header in wheat at the speeds we run. Throw in a few terraces here and there and it would be that much tougher.

I've talked to many Gleaner owners who like thier combines "as-is", but the guy that traded his R52 for my used Deere could have_should have thoroughly checked-out the ramnifications of Gleaner rotary ownership vs. Deere conventional ownership. The mods and_or hyperizing would have cost a fraction of what it ended up costing him to trade, but this is HIS business and all that really matters is that he's happy with the deal. I'll NEVER knock a John Deere combine, but the C62 has been an excellent combine, and my local AGCO dealer is second to none for service; - better than my Deere dealer.

It's all about the almighty dollar there bud. If I can save a thousand and keep it in my pocket to make the family's life easier why give it away to a dealerIJ Besides, you and I know that dealerships make most thier money in parts and the shop anyways. Not in sales. So not like their getting snipped in the shorts with my inquery (sp) be it successful.

I worked for a local Allis Chalmers_New Holland dealer when I left high school, and our shop was lucky to "break-even" in an average year. This was the general rule back then, but the parts counter always made money. Product sales was marginally profitable as well, but to think that there's "big dollars" to be made in service would be a false hope; - it's more like a "necessary evil"! I'm all for saving money, though, and if I can find a good used piece of equipment in the local classifieds, I buy it!
