Combines JD 4400 combine gas tank strainer assembly

Red, Yes, you are right on the strainer assembly, on my 3 gas powered deere's, I also put another inline fuel filter after the fuel has gone thru the strainer and sediment bowl, this filter will catch more foreign particles and will keep all this crap from being run thru the carb. I have a 3300 gas, so feel free to ask IJ's.

Red, I really don't know how hard it would be, looks fairly simple since the tank is pretty accessible. The 3300 we have is a 71' model with a little under 1500 actual hours and is in great condition and hasn't needed any repair like you are having to do. I do know that the 4400's are fescue eating SOB's and work great when the crop has been windrowed around here. Keep in touch.

95man will do. I will be running soybeans only. My farm neighbors are 6 row 30 inch on corn so that knocks me out there basically. I know I can get a 4 row 30 inch but they don't plant all that straight. Running beans is my specialty anyway. Its strictly for fun. I will go out there tomorrow and assess the gas tank situation. Might drag an old battery out and hit the ignition and see if the electric fuel pump is running.

Red, On the fuel pump on our 3300 it makes a ticking noise when the key is turned on and then when the pump gets primed the noise will go away and you're ready to fire off. Good luck

Thanks. I still have to get a good inch of green gas out of that tank. I also want to hit the starter switch and see if the starter motor works. I am getting excited!

Thanks for the kind words. This project is pushing my ability to the limits I believe. Well the GOOD news is that the gas tank is now pretty clean. It dripped out 3 gallons of really greeen gas over 2 days. I flushed another 2 1_2 gallons, after removing the strainer assembly, and it was light green. I flushed another 2 1_2 gallons and it poured out strong and clear. I will flush another 5 gallons through it on Saturday. The BAD news is I twisted the gas line in two when removing it from the strainer and the elec. fuel pump. Oh well. I'll pick up a new line, strainer and fuel pump. That strainer is packed full of gooy green gas varnish. I am not sure I can ever get it clean enough for it to be reliable. I did open the hydraulics door next to the dump augur. I am low on hydraulic fluid. The directions on the can mentions JD all purpose 303 oil. Since that is a 28 year old statment, what currently should I useIJ Thanks in advance.

My uncle went through reviving a combine that had been parked for 10 years. He said formula 409 cleaner works great for cleaning gummed up fuel system parts.

Red Hy-guard from the deere dealer should do just fine. The lubricity factor has only gotten better in all these years. Deere makes two kinds to my knowledge though. One is a lighter weight hy-guard then the other. I would recommend the heavier of the two. Good luck!! Deerebines
