Cattle can struggle in intensely cold weather, hence affecting weight gain or milk production. What are your remedies to keep them going during winter? For starters, there should be a continuous water supply as water sources can freeze during this time. Cattle need between 1 and 2 gallons of water per 100 pounds of weight.

In general, you should focus more on winter nutrition and environment management, as this will ensure that the cows are warm from the inside out. During cold weather, a cow's feed intake increases by 20 percent.

Great question with some good answers. My cows can go in the barn (it's heated) and they are free to go outside to roam too (fenced in). Making sure they are fed properly and have a continuous water source are also key.
