We just put up a couple of new feeders. We put them under a tree. I'm thinking it was a bad choice as I'm sure that squirrels are getting into the feeders. Where is the safest place to put them in a yard?
Squirrels are such a pain. I know that they need to eat too. Do you know that people actually put up squirrel feeders (like picnic tables) for them? Not me, we try to keep them out of our feeders too.
My dad uses slinky toys to keep them from climbing the poles. If the feeders are too close to the trees, they will just climb the trees and get the feeders. I'm kind of worried about bears this year. Last year we had our garbage tore into a few times.
We feed the squirrels as well as the birds. We have a squirrel feeder on the ground, but the squirrels eat out of our bird feeders, as well. We don't mind, the squirrels have to eat, too, and they're fun to watch. We also feed the chipmunks with the squirrel feeder.
