Combines l2 Variable Speed

1. We had an F3 once that we bought new - it was a variable speed and we would get it stuck in two gears also. Only had about 1000 hours on it when we traded for an M3 so it might not be worn shift linkage. Would have to shut it down, get out, and whack one of the shift levers out of gear to correct it. Don't miss the VS at all!! 2. If you were to Hyperize that N5, you'd probably never look back to your "l" days - an all your crops. But I do agree that the Gleaner conventionals are great machines. There are times I'd like to have one to operate for old times sake. 3. There are two different reversers for conventionals shown on the Hyper Mod site. Click on the link below to check them out. Good luck- Tom langan

Thank you tom for your reply! The reverser looks very ingenious and looks like it would save a lot of time outside with the machine stopped. thanks fot the link tom

the lh shaft either variable speed or hydro sheave sets on a split hub. Remove the brush holder , bolts , slide sheave off and on the inner sheave there are three bolts, remove them , locate and clean the threaded holes and insert bolts into hole and 'push' off the sheave from the hub. Then drive small chisel in hub and slide off, be careful as wires on VS are in a track covered by a thin u shaped shield. Take a punch and wear eye protection and bust the outer race in the cast housing . Most lay a shop rag over this to prevent shrapnel wounds. Remove housing. (cutting out the brg w_o busting race-removing balss and grease is messy as remaining grease burns out of control and when water is sprayed it is explosive) Then we cut the inner race carefully and after twisting in the new bearing in the housing slide the brg in on a polished smooth shaft.
