I live and farm in Canada in the province of Saskatchewan land around here is for sale at about $45,000.00 per quater section there is 160 acres on a quater section usually about 125 to 135 acres are cultivated on a quater section. As for renting land there was thousands of acres last year that no one would farm because the rent was to much rent last year was about $15.00 per cultivated acre this spring it will be much less I think or there will be even less land farmed around here this year. For you Americans reading this these prices are all in Canadian dollars so that would mean $35,000.00 U.S. would buy most quaters around here. If you are interested in some land I have some for sale in this aera at these prices. Hope this helps.

I live in se Saskatchewan. land around here sells for $310 - $320 per cultivated acre. We usually have about 145 -150 acres on a quarter. Cash rent is $25 on land owned by white guys. We have a lot of native owned land around here that is renting this year at $15, I am paying $24 for native land in a long term lease. I feel $25 is the high end of it right now, but that is not paying a landlord enough to cover his investment. We have averaged over the last 10 years a gross income of about $185-$190 per acre. We had rent up to $50 here for a couple years in the late 80's but no one will even think about that now. We cannot grow chickpeas here. In chickpea areas I hear rent of up to $70 per acre. The gross income for chickpeas is over $500 per acre so it is all relative.

I come from Denmark and landprices here is going wild. Prices are no less than $3500_acre and many places they are around $7500_acre. Most places land is rented for about $250_acre all in US currency. I don't know this but word is that prices in Holland is about 3 times as high.

I too am from Saskatchewan. However, land around our place is stil going for a fair dollar. Cash rent ranges from $30 to $ 40 and good land will still sell for upwards of $80 000 a quarter. Poor land on the other hand has really lost alot of its value and is worth only $30 - $40 000. Alot of producers are getting rid of thier poor land and trying to pick up a few acres of the better stuff.
