No a guy from South Eastern S.D. owned it, they have it in wheat for this year but sold it to a guy from Georgia who then resold to a guy from California. He also has 7700 acres by Marcus S.D. and the field by Hayes was 4791 acres, it was 6 or 7 miles long.

The largest wheat field ever I believe was in New South Wales Australia. It was 40,000 acres. 1_2 wheat and 1_2 Durum. It was a milling company that owned it. They had pictures of it in the Farmshow Magazine. I personally did not harvest it though.

are you from out by HaysIJ I worked for Aughenbaugh and did spraying and planting along w_ 4 other guys when they had it. I was told that that the guy who owned it ,600 ac farm ground and the rest was grass, sold it to some brothes in Iowa. They said if they were going to own then it would all be farm ground. So then aughenbaugh and Andersen stepped in to do the custom farming and broke out the sod ,and wahoo, one big wheat field.

No I am from Parkston, south of Mitchell, we farm from Wagner to Gann Valley to Huron. We do custom harvesting of wheat in the summer. Yes it is some guys from Iowa that bought it and a guy from Wessington Springs that have the wheat for this year and sold the 4791 acre field and some other ground, I do not know about the 7700 acre field if it was sold. One of the Wieczorek Harvesting got the job this year. It was sold to a guy from Georgia who in return sold it to a guy from California, but the guys from Iowa and Springs have the wheat for this year. I got some of the wheat by Springs to harvest but I could not due the others out west due to other commitments.

How long did it take to harvestIJ And how many trucksIJ This is a very interesting topic especially for those of us who come from an area where most farms had 1_4 section with the big operator having 2 quarters.

If you get to Hutchinson (45 minutes NW of Wichita),you should try and see this elevator. If you have any inclination or interest in space and the US_Soviet space race, that I would also hoghly recommend that Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.
