Are the Marlins blades easier on the cone VANES IJIJIJ How do they wear on the transition cone compared to the originalIJIJIJ Thanks!

apperantly so, as they are smaller and do not rub the material around the outside as much. I suppose that is why it is quieter and feeds green straw better. I hope by the time I have to put another cone in I do not own this 1680 anymore. Combine expert says with and afx rotor you can remove the vanes and the cone should last the life of the combine in cereals and canola. He has started manufacturing a rotor with a screw front end and all CIH style straight bars on it to the end. No helical bars and no stripper strips over cage, rub bars to the end. This way you can rotate your bars and wear out the whole set at onceIJ kinda a cross between a specialty and standard rotor. May exchange for this when my bars are shot.

Please explain the difference in the auger wraps. On the Stewart Steel auger,each impeller flighting wraps halfway or 180*. Some pictures of an AFX rotor that I have that was brand new last summer and ready to be installed in a combine has the same thing. Has CIH changed it since thenIJ I know the AFX rotor came out several years ago,and then suddenly disapeared for more testing.Is this what you are referring toIJ

Apperantly CIH has pictures different than what they produce. This is the exact reason the AFX was pulled a few years ago, it did not feed well. The feed auger needs one full revolution not 1_2 a revolution as in the CIH pictures. Take a look what is in a AFX 2388, one full revolution screw auger. Dave at D-Alta has been field testing his rotor for 2 years. He knows a CIH combine better than any CIH engineer does. Case has left that false picture out so copycats who do not field test will copy something that will not work. Kind weeds out those who are not serious about combine parts!

Do you mean one full revolution per auger ear, or the combined two auger ears making one full revolutionIJ

If you are correct,either my camera takes false pictures,or CIH is leaving decoy AFX rotors laying around at dealerships for the customers to buy and install.The pictures I took last summer were of an AFX rotor laying on the ground at my dealer waiting to be put into a combine.Or have they been recalled again since thenIJ I took the pics with a yardstick leaning against it at various places to see how the 30" version might be adapted to the 24" size.[scaled down] I assume we are both talking about the same thing;that each impeller makes 1_2 revolution from the front tip to the front of the rasp bars.I have not seen any info that each impeller makes 1 full revolution.If so,then I stand corrected.Please advise where we can find accurate pictures and info.

Consider the effect of 360 deg. wrap -- first the pitch of the flighting would be reduced by 1_2 the distance -- this might be OK in small grains but you might have trouble getting whole ears of corn thru. 2nd, due to opposing tapers on the front of the rotor and the front cone, you're compressing material as it's carried back. A 360 deg. wrap would'nt allow space for this material to release until it was highly compressed against the tapers. This would occur in any crop and this force feeding would necessarily require a large amount of HP and very fast rotor speeds in order to maintain a load thin enough for feeding the threshing area. First symptom of this would be overthresh, 2nd symptom would be massive shoe overload. Hope this is reasonably clear.
