How easy is it to find mentors considering that farming is an involving venture? The diverse set of skills that farmers need requires mentorship and advice. How else can we learn the ropes?
I think it's easily done. Just by joining one of the farm clubs or organizations you're bound to find a mentor. In my experience, farmers are friendly and happy to help.
Not all of us grew up on a farm, have a background in farming, or studied agriculture in college. A mentor comes in to help such a farmer gain some hands-on training. Countless websites can link you with a mentor based on your location.
If you spend enough time at the feed store, you're bound to run into someone who wants to talk shop. That's a good way to find a mentor in a rural area, at least in my experience. Finding the right mentor takes time because you have to build the relationship.
