Yes, you're not alone. Don't worry about warranty; AGCO has been excellent at standing behind these belts because they know of the problem. A few solutions have been tried, but to my knowledge, still not 100%. last one we did up here the rep. said the engineers were still working on different solutions. I wasn't sure I'd ever like another conventional combine after the rotors, but the 8680 is the best there is. Short of the belt, it is an outstanding combine in sample quality and capacity. For now, your belts should be covered with no out of pocket so no need to go backward into a 2388. With the new belt, give it a glance every day and check the lacing to make sure no pieces or nylon is working its way out. If you do see something working its way out, cut it off so it won't catch on anything and take out the entire belt. Easy does it on the tension and make sure tension is uniform left to right. There was an update on the chaff distribution auger at the front of the belt; it had a more steeply pitched flighting. Make sure you have this auger as it will improve belt life. They also tried replacing the rubber coated accelerator roll at the front of the belt with a bare steel one. I believe this has also helped in some cases, probably more so in small grains. Also inspect belt seals to make sure no trash can get under the seals and enter the closed loop belt. Hope this helps as I love that combine and if they take care of the belt issue, no more worries.

"backward into a 2388" Any way he could get into one would be a step in the right direction. What is agco going to doIJ Give the guy a new belt and maybe even do the work for him if he can wait long enough to get the one mechanic (that's all any agco dealer within 100 miles of me has) to do the workIJ Sorry, but this man would be way better off with an 8780 than the machine mentioned. Dissing the 2388 is not right since they are a good machine and do not have a failing conveyor belt for material transfer. GS

The 2388 is a good machine... under the right conditions. In tough small grains, which is likely what this machine is doing, the 2388 will not outdo the 8680. The new 9690 or an 8780XP is the finest example of a rotary combine, but even in the toughest of conditions, there is a place for a conventional combine. The 8680 is an excellent hillside machine, an area in which the 2388 struggles, as does, admittedly, the MF rotor. There are many factors to consider here. And yes, the dealer should install the belt no charge as it is a warranty item until a final solution comes.

tell onion farmer how poorly the 8780 works on a hill....GS

... with the addition of a combine leveling system, it works just fine, right Onion FarmerIJ In that country, a non-hillside packaged combine would certainly struggle.

After putting 22 hours of demo time on an 8680,I wondered about that stupid belt and found it underpowered in the hills and threw way too much over the walkers(as well as plugging the walkers twice)I ended up with a Tx 66 and it had alot more features, and selfleveling cleaning shoe, good power and tremendous fuel economy and a great cab.You really have to push it to throw over the walkers and the biggest limiting factor is the ability to pick up swaths. So in my experience the 8680 is far from the best conventional out there and my local dealer sells both, and they sure don't push the Massey.

I have the silver cousin to the 8680 a C62 and have also had similiar problems with the belt. I had to replace it again this fall and although the combine is off warranty AGCO and my dealer came good for it. Part of the reason they warrantied it though is because it went shortly after they installed new edge flaps. The new flaps they installed were too narrow and slid down between the belt and the edge of the combine allowing soybean stalks to wrap and split the belt. The other problem that I have seen is that if a small rock makes it through the cylinder it ends up jamming between the belt and the distribution auger. I had to climb inside there once this fall to remove a small rock that was jammed in there. Definitely a poor design. One of my neighbours with a C62 is also on his 3rd belt and says he is going to replace it with a shaker pan. Otherwise a great combine..

Dealer set-up. The 8680 greatly benefits from the new concave design, which can be approximated on existing older models by removing half the wires in the concave. Reduces walker loss IMMENSElY. Also, there are taller, more aggressive risers to install that further increase the machine's capacity and reduce walker loss. The 8680, when properly set up, will stay with and even outdo the TX 66, but not the big TX 68. And, it's simple.

Do the draper header have the same kind of problem with the conveyer belts that they are having with this machineIJ I sow that there is a performance pkg. dist. auger n71284834 and steel accelerator roller kit n71392639 for the 8680, do they help for this problemIJ Is the accelerator rollers on N and R the same size as the one 8680IJ

I have never seen any one piece sieve that could spread the matt of grain and MOG evenly across it's width when it is not level. They all have the same corner for stuff to run to. The NH option of a leveling sieve will help but the stuff is still going to fall on the lower side. Sorry, but I am skeptical of snake oil till I see the results. I remember the days of sidehill blowers to aid in this problem, and also noticed that on the level they would lose a third or more capacity so that idea sort of "blew" out the window. leveling the whole machine works so well, it's no comparison. Machine works at full capacity at all times, grain tank can be filled absolutely full every time and never spill, best of all, the operator is so much more comfortable that he is able to work longer, more productive hours w_o being so wrung out he can't walk to the pickup to go home at night. I know these things are true, I also own a leveling machine, just not as nice a one as onion farmer. Happy new year!! GS
