I would agree, leveling the whole combine is the only way to go.Its to bad leveling costs 20,000 for the Hillco. But thats better than 50 to 80 thousand for others. This year I did some custom harvest for a friend. He ran 1470 IH with full leveling, he was realy impresssed with the 8780. I went every where he did, but those combines level to 40%. One thing for sure, you did not fall asleep. There were lots of times they were out of level. Good luck onion farmer

Agco is replacing the rubbber accelerator roll with the steel one because the rubber paddles don't stand up. They were having a lot of problems with the rubber getting chewed up. Only problem is they admit that the steel roll will be rough on edible beans. I had the steel one in and then took it back out. Agco paid to put the new rubber kit back in but said that it was a one time deal ...from now on I'm responsible for it if it get's chewed up.

Draper header belts run much slower than the accelerator belt in the back of the 8680. It runs fast to prevent material from running to the downhill side of machine on hillsides, and works well. The update kits you listed will help, as mentioned, in all crops except edible beans. There, the rubber is better, and then, probably with half the rubber lugs removed. The accelerator roll is the same as that used on an R62_72, but not an N. The rubber, especially since there is only one unlike two used on the rotaries, will wear out more quickly when used in corn, a high yielding crop.

I thought I read that the hillco would level to 20%, is this true. I would think your hills are much steper then that. We have a MH gleaner that would macks out no sume hills (I think it leveled to 45%),we haven't used it the last two years. The steper hills are in CRP. We are in south east Idaho. Regards Dee

The Hillco levels to 28% I think. So on the 40% hills you are out of level 12%.It works fine, and the combine with duels is 16 or 17 feet wide so your fairly stable. Onion farmer

deadeye, Talk to your MF dealer about a new slowdown kit for the belt. It slows the belt speed by about half, and drastically increases belt life.
