Dakota you hit the nail right on the head. If something doesnt change and change quick we all will be selling out. I have downsized my operation from 3 machines down to 1 due to some health issues and then all of the other circumstances you mentioned above. I am going to work with another harvester and he also will have one machine our goal is to eliminate all of the above headaches down to a minimal amount and we are thinking we can get by with 2 hired hands in a pinch but are hoping to have 3 hired men then him and I. It sure is a good way of life and a person hates to quit and throw in the towell but it sure is aggrivating at times... Well I wish you guys luck in whatever adventures you choose to do from here on out....

Shawn, I've always enjoyed our past correspondences and phone calls. I'm so sorry to hear about your health issues, too. I want to see the harvesters win in this, but howIJ If it were not for all of the above, [yes, I agree wholly with Dakota whom I've also talked to] I'd have been a professional CH many years ago. I'm in my middle ages, too, which tells you a lot of what I've seen over the years.

It is the same here in Australia except here fuel is supplied by the farmer but combine costs compared to what we receive to harvest is far worse in dollar terms. Staff are getting hard to find as who wants to work stupid hours for not a huge amount of money.
