I will try to send you some pictures in the next few days. The main thing is that you have to use a pot that is compatable with the combine so the two can 'talk' to each other. This isn't something you can mix and match.I think the JD sends voltage down, and wherever the wiper arm in the DAl box happens to be,then it sends voltage back to raise _lower etc.The IH uses resistance, which is over my head. I put the IH pot. on a JD head, but instead of putting it directly on the end of the sensing shaft,I made an arm to fit on the end of the shaft. Then I made a bracket to mount the pot on,and connected the two with the short linkage arm that JD now uses. I have seen some that started with a homemade arm on the sens. shaft, then mounted the pot on the side of the head somewhere around the reel cyl.,and then connected the two with a sensing cable for a 1020 head. What I reversed was the position of the pot after I very carefully diagnosed how everything should work together, and how this would move this way and that had to move that way.I turned on the HHC switch and lowered the head.It fell to the ground and layed there like a dead cat.No response. Not understanding why the pot was not giving the combine a raise signal,I started fiddling with the pot. When I flipped it over 180*,it worked perfectly. That's why it helps to build in plenty of adjustment.Sorry I took so long explaining. PS,cut off the plug on the pot,and tap into the JD wires at both ends so you will still have the plug up by the feederhouse. No info on the driveshafts.Check at one of the farmstores to see if you can come up with the right combo.
