About 8 years ago i made a trip through Kansas during corn harvest, i saw a few IH's but 90% were 9600's so i am not the only one that thinks they are good. I know in the mid 90's you couldnt beat them in corn. But why dont you tell me why they are so bad in cornIJ How many hours you ran one in cornIJ

Everyone brags up these rotors, but I have a 9600 in the family and it does awesome in beans and corn. We run an 8-row 30", keeps the trucks moving.

Aaa F.M. way to high, with conventional moredockage than the roters, in corn and bean country dealers will not order one in, when people buy knew they will not think of conventional and my gues is that is why Deere is going towards the STS is because sales 90% for rotors Have a Merry Christmas.

I have lived in Kansas all my life, on the road in Customer Service for the last 15 years. I do about 40K a year on almost every road in the state. What I have always found interesting is how you will see "clusters" of one color where there is a dominant dealer. I went across the northern counties on 36 a few weeks ago during fall harvest and it was really interesting to note. You would begin to see most of the equipment was a particular color, and then you would hit a town with a rather substantial dealership of that color. On that trip I did see more 9600's than anything else. Some Red, expecially in a couple clusters. A few STS. But for the most part green walker machines.

What about dropping strawIJMany of our customers ask us to do this. Also know other harvesters who wont switch to rotors for this reason.

Around here they want the straw fine because it dont plug up the manure pumps like whole straw from conventionals I sell mine to dairy farmer who has a Deere conventional and prefers the roter combine for that reason.

I work for a JD dealership where the area is 90% walker machines. However all but 1 of 12 new combines sold this year were STS. The one customer that bought the walker went to the factory to watch it get built, said his combine was the only walker on the line that day. If walker sales were strong they wouldn't be disappearing. If all the guys running 9600's had traded for 9650 or 9660 they would still be making them. Of course thats what happens a company makes a good machine, no need to trade!!!

I sure hate to hear that. We just went to green because of parts availabity in our area. Hopefully our 9610's will run forever. Have heard a lot more negative than good about JD rotors in our area.

I would like to see your 9600 keep up with a 9650 STS or bigger in corn or beans. Good luck with that. Combining corn at 6-7 mph with our STS this fall was real easy to do. Running a 12 row 20" head in 180 bu. corn.
