The engine is beside the cab. Just about exactly at the driver's right hip. The bin is in the rear. The rear axle (steering) pivots side to side from the center. The steering mechanism is attached to the drivers side hub, and has a tie-rod over to the left. The fuel tank sits low on the drivers side at the rear of the front tire. In the engine compartment the hyd. tank is on the starter side in front.

Thanks, so if the engine model n is HB225-671 then it is a 225 cu. in. engine made in June of 1971IJ I'm not trying to act stupid, as far as combines are concerned I AM STUPID Just trying to learn. And I know that everyone out there will be completely surprised to find out that I am a city-boy that bought a farm a few years back and am trying to learn enough to keep from destroying what I do have. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Russell I'm pretty sure that engine is a 225 cube chrysler slant six - same block as was in millions of chrysler cars in the early seventies - maybe has a different piston set to run on lo octane gas or some motors they put a spacer gasket under the head (ford used to do that way back when) Anyway if ever you blow it you can get a replacement from out of a wreck car just save the different bits - mainly carby and mechanical governor. The car motor will run fine just use good enough gas for the higher compression ratio (you get a bit more power too )We used to have a early Aussie made massey with industrial chrysler flathead (sidevalve) motor same block as in dodge cars going back pre ww2 Cheers

make sure the slant 6 isn't the industrial one, i bought a hagie hi-boy sprayer that had the slant 6, i thought the same thing, easy to get parts for!!!..WRONG!! wow, they don't even make a starter for them anymore, i was lucky enough to find a place in omaha, ne that could re-build the starter, but it was nip n tuck and $300.00 later!! jst a little info for ya!
