Not sure about this conversion but I can understand grounding engine to frame and battery to frame, but don't understand running cables to front. Would you not just remove old positive cable and install longer one from new battery position to starter. Sounds like your just back feeding starter thru some small gauge wires which you could melt easily. Weapon

Hi: We did this conversion several years ago. There should be a long positive cable that starts about a foot ahead of the batteries, runs back connecting both positive terminals of the batteries, and goes up to the main terminal on the starter solinoid. Another positive cable attaches to the first cable and runs forward to the solinoid on the feeder reverser. A short negative cable connects to both batteries and fastens to the combine frame (the angle iron near the end of the shoe) I don't remember another ground from engine to frame. There are 2 small wires (1 positive and 1 negative) that must be be attached to the special batterie terminals fitted with a nut on each side. I do not remember if these wires were supplied or not. They were used on the original installation, I do remember. The reason for the positive wire running forward to the reverser is to provide more voltage and power. It is a lot shorter route and more direct

Hello Is this special batterie terminal right by the cover that you lift to get to where the old batteries wereIJ You are right on track on everything that I have done, I know the small wire you are talking about and wondering if maybe that is what I didn't do right if you could test the memory and let me know where you hooked them would appreciate it. Thanks Dirt farmer

Hi again: I checked our machine today. There is a new negative cable from a bolt on the front side of the bell housing about 5 inches below the starter to a bolt on top fo the combine near the left side of the machine. The small wires I mentioned were in a small flex tube, (part of the kit) and splice in to old harness near where the batteries used to sit. They likely were attached to two of the old battery clamps. Try and find them. They have the same terminal ends that were attached to the original battery terminals. I snipped the ends off and spliced on the new harness. One is positive, the other negative. They supply power to the computer that controls combine functions and warning systems (I believe). Don't get them crossed. CardaleBob
