The dealer has a R62 for $20,000 more with a option of either a 20 or 24 ft flex head and 8 row corn head and RWA would this be a better buy than the R50 thanks John

Does it continue to use oil after the first 2 quarts (if you do not top it offIJ) Our 6275 tractors will never stay at the "full" mark, but seem to stop using oil after it drops about 1_4" down from the full mark. Might just be the nature of the Deutz engine. Has never seemed to hurt anything on the tractors running them just a touch low. The other Russ in Iowa

I know in lots of airplane engines (aircooled also) that if you let them come down on the dip stick just a little they quit "using" oil.

In our flatlands I suggest the guys never add oil unless it is at or below add mark. This is my recommendation no matter which engine or machine. Of course daily inspection of level is still recommended. Some engines require dipstick to be pulled then wait a few seconds then insert stick wait another few seconds and then pull out slowly. V8 Deutz have a breater hole at top of dipstick tube which is supposed to be uncovered when checking oil. I wouldn't be worried about occasional and periodic use of some oil as long as engine isn't making irregular noise or if you have external blowby tube don't notice excess amount of blowby. I believe the rings can move around on piston and occasionally gaps line up especially on freshly overhauled machines. We had a vigourous breakin process on the new Deutz powered tractors. This was large load on Dyno with low RPM and increased RPM over time. Combines were to break in fine with normal operation. Best of luck
