Combines R72 radiator

Seems nothing changes much in the silver factory.I have a '96,72.From day 1 the radiator and the engine air cleaner have required a thorough daily blow down.They did some mods in both areas in 1997_8.Your machine probably came out with those already fitted. Keep an eye on your rotary screen in the Right Hand mirror on those really gusty days- I had straw and chaff blow back up, stalling the screen. Check that you have a good seal around the radiator and a reliable air compressor.

You need to try a rotary fan brush kit in which it keeps build-up off the screen. As well you can try a rad cut-off plate and make sure your rad is sealed up. This will help. Good luck

Have a 93 R-62 air cooled so no problem on cooling.

thank you for the responce.i thought the brush kit was for the latest models,that have more space between the fins,and the cut off plate was an update because there was too much trash entering between the fins.my '98 has the old stile ,small fined radiator

You can try what we did. It's the most reliable solution I know. I call it the "Air Cleaner Mod." Stick freshly cleaned air filter under buddy seat in the cab for instillation when the yellow light comes on.

G'Day Fellars!! Try Checking your cutoff plates that are on the in side of the rotary screen!! they are the plates that are on the planking off area in side the rotary screen,( get them as close as possible but not touching the inside of the screen!!!) this helps to let chaff and stuff fall of the the screen every revolution! next see if the top of the rotary screen that seals against the top of the radiator box!!! this is the area that might need some strengthening with a bit of RSH or angle iron so as to make it seal better against the radiator box. Next make sure the front of the rotary screen has a cut off plate that extends down to the bottom of the Gal steel! and extend the bottom of the radiator ( there should be some bolt holes there under the radiator area!!) with about 500 mm of rubber or sheet steel.

Some machines had a bigger air cleaner installed. Maybe yours was never done.

I PUT THE BIGGER AIR FIlTER KIT ON MY '94 R62 AND STIll HAD PROBlEMS WITH FIlTERS PlUGGING EVERY 1.5 HOURS. THE SOlUTION IS THAT YOU GET RUBBER REDUCER BOOTS FROM DONAlDSON DISTRIBUTION, 10" ON MINE TO 8" THEN 8" TO 6" THEY DO NOT HAVE A 10-6 REDUCER, SEEMS NOTHING IN THIS WORlD IS EASY All THE TIME. THEN YOU GET 6" PVC PIPE TO GO UP JUST ABOVE YOUR GRAIN TANK. GO TO A JOHN DEERE DEAlER AND GET A SY-ClONE AIR ClEANER FROM THEM, I BElIEVE IT'S A 9002 SERIES. SUPPORT THIS FROM YOUR GRAIN TANK BACK. PROBlEM SOlVED. AFTER 270 ACRES OF BEANS AND 300 ACRES OF CORN DUST. NOTHING AND FIlTER lOOKS lIKE NEW. MY DEAlER TOlD ME THAT I WAS THE ONlY ONE WITH THIS KIND OF PROBlEM. YEAH RIGHT.

I think we need a pic of this added to the mod section.. I would like to see what you can up with.. Another thing to check would be to make sure you are getting good suction from the exhaust pipe... The ventrui tends to burn out after 1000 hrs or so... I never heard of a "cyclone".. around here the popular one is a "turbo 2" I never tried on an N or r series combine..
