I've never seen anything on brushes for these machines. The straight threw radiator will fit your machine and there is a fan blade for rotary screen that will supposedly cause less restriction. This info is in a school book from a year or two ago along with some other things to check. late '97 and into '98 R72s had the radiator you have and it is maybe the best one out there for heat transfer but is no good when plugging. We didn't switch any radiators but ever since the air cooled machines we have been doing some things to keep radiators clean. We have been adjusting tins inside screen like Rolf said and even extended bottom panel to get it closer to screen. We did some duct taping around outer bearing area to prevent vacuum from getting to vertical surface of screen. There is a fairly recent service bulliton that lists a kit that has a plate in it to seal that bearing area. That kit also has a rubber curtain in it that fastens to front outside stripper and it will help prevent straw from going around screen more than once and the less it goes around screen the less likely it will get into radiator. I have been fabricating a rubber curtain to hang down from front stripper and cut it to neatly fit against inside and outside panel. The chaff and straw that starts the radiator plugging comes in between the sawtooth blades and side wall if it isn't coming from a bad seal around box like Rolf stated. The '01 machines have a wider saw tooth blade which should help. On the prior to '01 machines we have been installing some 1_8"x1 1_4" foam with adhesive on one side. We stick it between the saw tooth blades and side wall. It closes up the gap between blades and side wall. The blade ends up shaving off the high areas. We painted foam and let it dry to make it crispier so blade wouldn't catch to hard when it touched. We didn't install foam on any '01 machines with the wider blades. We have been able to run in absulute straw storms with some of these mods with very little radiator maintance. Seems like '01s will do it straight out of the box. Check out the Gleaner stuff or a mix there of and give it another try. Be sure to wash radiator back and forth and back and forth untill all chaff and dirt is clear so you have a fresh start. I hate blowing or washing radiators and that is why I was so determined to keep them clean. Got really spoiled with the air cooled machines. Good luck.
