Why aren't yaks more popular as a farm animal? You can raise them for their meat, hides, fiber, and milk. They're also handy pack animals with good temperaments. So why aren't more farmers interested in raising them?
It sounds great on the surface, but when I checked into it years ago, there wasn't a viable market for yak meat or milk. Their hides did not fetch a premium for leather goods either. Maybe the market has improved since then though.
