Acres, sorry it was a typo. And well you see i have a family that i care about and i'm not going to be a father to my kids that never goes to his daughters gymnastics stuff or his sons basketball and a husband thats only home to sleep for a few hours and go back into the fields. So if you can do that much with one combine, great. But i want to spend time with my family so i do my 2500acres with 2 combines because i want time with my family AND i can afford to do it too.

longfellow,there is a farmer around here who has taken delivery of 2 9750s after trading his 9600s. These machines do very little work,last year the 9600s stayed in the shed while he got contractors in to harvest.Why does he do itIJ, well the gentelman is in his late 70s early 80s well off and he loves his farm and his john deeres. As the saying goes(the bigger the boy the bigger the toy) john

longfellow - first of all, I agree that a person should be able to handle 2500 acres with one machine. But what the heck if he does use two machinesIJ If he can afford it, so what! Now, for the 2nd reason I'm responding - not everyone has the large, flat fields that Iowa farmers enjoy. There are many, many fields here in WC WI that are small, irregular shaped, 3 cornered, hilly, etc that we just cannot make good time in. In these conditions, we feel we are doing well to cut 60 - 80 acres a day with a class V machine. That's not to say we don't have good conditions too, but often times run into slow going. Don't feel guilty about getting your harvest done in a timely manner. We have 4 machines for a similar acreage operation, even though the interest on yours does not equal the total value of ours. Most of my neighbors are still harvesting while I am doing this.
